Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: The Gentle Start - Lanterns, Lanes & Local Life

Lijiang

Lijiang presents a hundred ways to begin your journey. Settle into the rhythm of this ancient Naxi capital by wandering its cobblestone lanes, discovering tucked-away courtyards, or simply pausing to breathe in the mountain air. For those seeking direction, we offer a curated selection of local experiences to deepen your connection to the city’s living culture.

Day 2: Into the Canyon - A Journey of Power and Peace

Lijiang · Tiger Leaping Gorge · Tacheng

The journey unfolds toward one of Asia’s most dramatic natural wonders - Tiger Leaping Gorge. Feel the raw power of the Jinsha River carving through epic cliffs. Afterwards, the road leads north through rolling hills, arriving in the serene, terraced landscapes of Tacheng - a perfect prelude to the days of wonder ahead.

Day 3: Golden Monkeys & Valley Vines - From Sacred Forests to Sipping Stories

Tacheng · Cizhong · Deqin

The day begins with a rare encounter: watching families of endangered Yunnan golden monkeys descend from misty forests. We then wind to Cizhong, a village where Tibetan prayer flags flutter over some of China’s oldest vineyards. Here, taste wine born from a unique history and step into a church that stands as a quiet testament to cross-cultural harmony. The day ends as the sacred peaks of Meili Snow Mountain (Kawagarbo) rise on the horizon.

Day 4: In the Shadow of Kawagarbo - Summits, Silence & Spirit

Deqin

Standing in the presence of the sacred Kawagarbo peak, the day invites deep connection. Choose your path to match your spirit - whether you feel drawn to walking glacial trails, finding a moment of meditation in the high-altitude silence, or sitting with locals to craft a prayer flag filled with intention - each path offers a unique way to connect with this sacred land.

Day 5: From High Peaks to Warm Valleys - A Descent into Grace

Deqin · Benzilan

Leaving the high air behind, we descend through the silent forests of Baima Snow Mountain. A pause at Dongzhulin Monastery offers a moment of quiet reflection in a working sanctuary, far from the crowds. The journey then winds down into the sun-kissed Jinsha River valley, arriving in the historic oasis of Benzilan, where Tibetan tradition and valley warmth have welcomed travelers for centuries.

Day 6: Pines, Clay & Moonlight - The Road to Shangri-La

Benzilan · Nixi · Shangri-La

A gentle walk through the Niding Forest begins the day - a chance to breathe deeply among ancient pines. In the artisan village of Nixi, feel the cool clay as masters demonstrate the ancient art of black pottery. As the light softens, we ascend to Shangri-La (Gyalthang), where the old town - the fabled Moonlight City - glows with a quiet, heavenly grace upon the hill.

Day 7: A Secret Above the Clouds - Carrying Shangri-La Within

Shangri-La · Lijiang

The morning offers a final, breathtaking gift from the highlands: a secret path only known to a few leading to a vantage point where all of Shangri-La unfolds below. This panoramic view is a moment to meditate on the journey. We then begin our return to Lijiang.

Day 8: A Gentle Farewell - Until the Next Journey

Lijiang

Morning light in Lijiang invites a slow and savoring pace - one last stroll, one more coffee, a final moment to take it all in. We’ll ensure your departure is seamless. You leave with more than memories; you carry the stories of the people and the peace of the mountains.
